The beautiful melody and counter melody brings out the singing quality of the horn and violin. This piece would be perfect addition to a recital or for use in a church setting. The first performance of this new edition was given by Emma Syrus (Horn), Anna Starkey (Violin) and Timothy Venvell (piano).

In the original score, Dubois allows the alternative or organ as a substitute for piano and cello as a replacement for the horn. The organist was expected to read from the same part as the pianist, but the transposing nature of the horn meant that the composer had to supply an alternative part for the cello.
