This work was orchestrated to create a mellower and lighter sound. Conical brass replaced cylindrical to create a mellower sound in the brass and the euphonium was employed instead of a tuba for a less ponderous feel in the bass. The English horn replaced the bassoon for a higher pitched double reed that had a more distinct sound over the easily blended bassoon.
This is a very straightforward piece and will hopefully be a delight to play for any group about grade level 4.
